Tesla to unveil "unexpected" new product October 17

Tesla to unveil

According to founder Elon Musk, Tesla will unveil something "unexpected by most" on Monday, October 17. (Source: Goldman Sachs downgrades Tesla due to concerns over SolarCity, Model 3 launch, CNBC, October 6, 2016).

Musk has previously confirmed that both the much-rumoured Model Y compact SUV, a new electric minibus and a pick-up truck will form part of the Tesla's future model line-up.

Battery capacity, models available, exact performance figures, spec levels, how it plans to keep ramp up production - there is more we don't know about the Model 3 than we do.

Tesla has said it is on track to deliver 80,000 to 90,000 vehicles this year. We'll just have to wait and see.

An additional October 28 event will involve SolarCity, an energy company, which was the subject of a yet-to-be-finalized $2.6 billion merger with Tesla earlier this year.

Amanda Holden's sister critically ill following vehicle crash
She returned to Nepal on a fundraising trip in April of 2016. "Now we've just got to get Debbie through this". A year later, tragedy struck again when her son was stillborn after seven months of pregnancy.

However, this time, Musk says that the October 17 launch is going to be separate from the SolarCity and auto unveiling of the 28th.

It is also possible that the next model of electric vehicle, the Model Y - a compact SUV - will be unveiled. First, it was the now famous fatal crash involving Joshua Brown and his Model S cruising on Autopilot.

Tesla employees were told in an August 29 e-mail from Musk that the carmaker needed to raise additional cash in the fourth quarter as the company ramped up production of its Model 3 sedan. Tesla likely will not be able to deliver numerous later Model 3 reservations for many months, if not years, after the 2017 release. Whatever Musk and Tesla have up their sleeves, there won't be a need to raise equity or debt in the fourth quarter.

Unfortunately, it's not clear what Tesla plans to show off on October 17.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is probably trying to figure out what he has do to get on Wall Street's good side. So far we haven't seen final images or drawings as to what the vehicle will look like, and considering in excess of 400,000 people have pre-ordered one, they'll probably want to know exactly what it is they're buying.
