Jets place WR Decker on IR

Eric Decker's season is over.

Decker missed the past two games for the Jets. Decker, who hasn't played since Week 3, was trying to rehab the injury and return.

Rapoport goes on to indicate that Decker will have season-ending surgery on the injured shoulder.

For the season, Decker had nine catches for 194 yards and two touchdowns.

The seventh-year wide receiver is a leading target on the Jets team, and his absence for the rest of the season does not bode well for the NY offense.

He had 80 receptions for 1,027 yards and 12 scores - including a team-record 10 scoring grabs inside the opponents' 20-yard line - last season as he and Marshall combined for 26 TDs.

Decker injured the shoulder during the Jets' Sept. 15 win at Buffalo, but he played in a Week 3 loss to Kansas City. The Jets have struggled early with 1-4 start to the season. He caught only one pass in that game and later told team officials he had aggravated the injury.

The Jets' top two receivers remain Brandon Marshall and Quincy Enunwa.

Decker, 29, put up one of the best performances of his career last season with the Jets. But the reported surgery would seem to rule out that possibility.
