Jim Carrey Sued by Cathriona White's Mother for Wrongful Death

Jim Carrey Sued by Cathriona White's Mother for Wrongful Death

But Brigid Sweetman claims Jim did more than just infect her daughter with three sexually transmitted diseases.

The mother of Jim Carrey's ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the actor, accusing him of knowingly infecting her daughter with three STDs and supplying her with an abundance of prescription pills, which ultimately led to her suicide past year.

Carrey's lawyer told TMZ that White had a hard relationship with her mother and claims they were estranged for years. This latest lawsuit is being waged by White's mother, who is claiming that her daughter OD'd after the actor gave her three STDs and then subsequently broke up with her.

According to TMZ, the lawsuit says Cathriona learnt of her STD status in 2013, allegedly revealing she had contracted chlamydia as well as two types of herpes.

Carrey also called his ex a "whore", according to the suit, and told White she had "become too much drama" before dumping her.

White, 30, was found dead in her home on September 28, 1015 following a drug overdose.

$120 Million Apple Patent Win Against Samsung Reinstated
The outcome will determine how much Samsung owes Apple for infringing on design patents for the iPhone. Part of that dispute has been appealed to the Supreme Court, which will hear it on Tuesday.

"Cathriona often lamented about her contentious relationship with her mother, how she was forced to leave home at the age of 15, and how they had been estranged for years".

In those court documents Sweetman reportedly alleges that Carrey gave White those STDs "without warning her", lied to her about the situation, and then "dumped" White "out of concern for saving his own carefully crafted public image". Brigid says the actor was at first dismissive of the claims, and later argued that she could have contracted the diseases from someone else. Both Burton and Sweetman are being represented by the same lawyer, Michael Avenatti.

When an assistant checked the surveillance cameras it was discovered she last entered the residence on September 24, 2015 and had not left for over a day. "And he should be ashamed for how he has used his Hollywood attorneys to badmouth Cat's husband Mark with the hope that nobody will hold him responsible for what he did", Sweetman said in a statement.

The lawsuit claims: "However, Ms". Carrey and his attorney have feverishly denied these allegations, calling them "desperate, bogus claims". "Every mother and father that has a daughter should read Cat's handwritten letter to Jim and decide for themselves what kind of a guy he really is".

Carrey attended the funeral for White after she committed suicide previous year.

The star's lawyers said he "will not pay money to end this opportunist's transparent shakedown lawsuit, and this malicious case will be dismissed".
