Is Any Note 7 Safe? Flight Evacuated After Replacement Starts Smoking

For all the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 users who thought that Samsung would replace their units with defective batteries with news ones, you might have to rethink of buying another smartphone instead.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have begun investigations into an incident Wednesday, where a Southwest Airlines flight was evacuated after a replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7 started emitting smoke.

IN passenger Brian Green's phone began emitting smoke inside Southwest Airlines' Flight 994 to Baltimore from Louisville, Kentucky, the CNN reported.

The aircraft was still in the gate when the phone caught fire and no one was injured, the Verge reports. "Initial reports indicate the device was a Samsung".

The picture showed an identifying label with a black box, which Samsung has described as the indicator of a replacement phone.

The Note 7 received a global recall after numerous claims of explosions and fires when charging, with 2.5 million devices being offered an exchange. It seems that Samsung has failed to address the problem despite recalling the initial batch of Note 7 smartphones.

Almost $11 million worth of jewelry was taken from Kim Kardashian's hotel room, while she was locked and tied up in the bathroom. The local police department confirmed that Kardashian was robbed of jewelry worth millions of dollars and that she is unharmed.

The owner of the phone had picked up the replacement at an AT&T; store on September 21st.

A Samsung representative said, "There is no evidence that this incident is related to the new Note7".

A day after a smartphone caught fire aboard a Southwest Airlines plane at the Louisville worldwide airport in Kentucky, US, a statement by the company said until the device is retrieved, it can not confirm whether the incident involves the new Note 7.

Southwest confirmed in a statement that 75 people on board the plane, including crew, were evacuated via the main cabin door.

Green said he had just tucked the phone into his pocket as flight attendants were doing a safety briefing when he saw smoke. Samsung added that once they have examined the device, the company will have more information to release.
