Murray makes quick work of Dimitrov on Labor Day

Andy Murray won 9 of the first 10 games and overwhelmed Grigor Dimitrov 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 at the U.S. Open on Monday night to reach the quarterfinals for the 22nd time in his past 23 Grand Slam tournaments.

Andy Murray, of Britain, celebrates after defeating Grigor Dimitrov, of Bulgaria, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 at the U.S. Open tennis tournament, Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, in NY.

Serena Williams broke through another barrier on Monday, her 308th Grand Slam match win taking her past Roger Federer for the most in major tournaments and into the quarter-finals of the US Open.

I think that the other fastest serve was here at the US Open around 138 maybe, but I've never hit over 140.

Asked about his fastest serve, Murray said: "I served one at 145 in San Jose, but the next day they recalibrated the gun, because it was completely wrong".

"I don't think he started the match really badly", Murray later told a media conference. I don't expect to do it again.

"I played very well today with very few unforced errors and made it very tough for Grigor".

"I definitely have great memories here", Nishikori added.

'I did go up in (racket string) tension a little bit from the last match.

Coalition jets scrambled to defend USA forces from Syrian bombing
Ankara sees the Syrian Kurdish militia in Syria as an offshoot of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). The US has increased air patrols in the area, Davis said.

Ashe will protect the players from most of the wind, which will be helpful for the shot maker Dimitrov, and if the wind isn't an issue Murray will have to play a lot better than he did in his last match against Paulo Lorenzi.

Davis Cup captain Leon Smith will be particularly interested in Murray's energy levels ahead of Great Britain's semi-final against Argentina next week, but he believes the world number two can outlast his rivals in NY.

The 27-year-old is unseeded and needed a wildcard even to enter in NY after a chronic wrist injury saw him miss nine grand slams in a row and his ranking plummet. "It's an unbelievable court to play on and a fantastic atmosphere all the time".

"I have played well against him in the past but he likes these conditions", said Murray.

"I stopped rushing in the rallies", 2012 US Open victor Murray said in an on-court interview. "It's not only because I've been winning matches or anything like that".

Smith must cut his team from five to four by the draw next Thursday but could include both Evans and Edmund if Andy Murray is keen once again to play doubles with brother Jamie.

Murray never gave Dimitov a look-in in a win which set up meeting with Kei Nishikori.

The Scot now faces Japanese sixth seed Kei Nishikori, who he recently beat in the semi-finals in Rio, after he cruised past Croatian giant Ivo Karlovic in straight sets. The other men's semifinal Friday is No. 1 Novak Djokovic against No. 10 Gael Monfils.

"Obviously today I ran out of fuel I think physically and mentally".
