North Korea may have kidnapped missing American student in 2004, website reports

North Korea may have kidnapped missing American student in 2004, website reports

He works as a tutor for Kim Jong-un and teaches English to children. Their belief is that Sneddon, who was 24 at the time, was wanted by the North Korean regime for training purposes because of his fluency in Korean.

On Wednesday, Yahoo News Japan reported that Mr Sneddon had been spotted in North Korea, where he is believed to live. According to the report, Sneddon was working as a tutor in Pyongyang, and he was married with children.

Twelve years after the son of a Providence family went missing in China in 2004, news reports are surfacing about his supposed whereabouts, claiming he is alive and has a family in North Korea.

When David Sneddon disappeared in 2004, he was believed to have fallen and died in Tiger Leaping Gorge, near Lijiang in Yunnan Province.

The Sneddons believe that their son was targeted because he can speak fluent Korean, which was helpful when he was a Mormon missionary in South Korea prior to his kidnapping.

But they never recovered a body.

N. Korea says UN condemnation of missile tests 'provocation'
Analysts say the flight showed North Korea has made progress in its push to be able to strike US forces throughout the region. But its development of reliable submarine-launched missiles would add weapons that are harder to detect before liftoff.

"I'm nearly confident David is alive", Kathleen said, noting her friends who have traveled overseas to find out information about David's possible whereabouts. Now, Deseret News is reporting a new development that could bring the Sneddon's one step closer to closure.

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has had a senior official executed because he did not sit properly in a meeting.

The reported investigation comes after members of Utah's congressional delegation asked lawmakers in Washington to probe whether Sneddon had been abducted by North Korea.

A United States college student who vanished during a trip to China in 2004 is alive and living in North Korea after being abducted by Pyongyang, the head of a South Korean abductees organization says.

When Sneddon, originally from Nebraska, went missing while hiking in China's Yunnan province, local officials shrugged and said he probably drowned during his walk. Whatever the outcome, the Sneddon family deserves some answers.

The picture shows a young man smiling, ready to take on the world. "But when you look at the total number", Roy told the newspaper. "It's kind of fun to think about", says Kathleen Sneddon.
