Sony's new flagship Android phones still don't have fingerprint sensors

Sony's new flagship Android phones still don't have fingerprint sensors

Sony has moved away from its "Z Series" moniker for its next flagship smartphone and lifted the lid off a fresh major handset, the Xperia XZ.

At IFA 2016 Sony unveiled its new Sony Xperia X Compact smartphone, which will go on sale in the United Kingdom in September as a smaller version of its Xperia X flagships with mostly high-end specs. "The Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact use intelligent charging to prevent battery decline".

The Xperia XZ sports a 23-megapixel camera paired with what Sony calls "triple image sensing technology".

Aside from the XZ's 4K video and 5-axis IS, The biggest difference between the X and the XZ are their designs. Not only does it stabilize the X and Y axes, yaw, and pitch, but also roll.

There's also a new stereo dual microphone system with integrated noise cancellation to match the great camera.

Spotted by Telefoonabonement, the new listing confirmed that the Xperia X Compact would feature a 4.6-inch display and draw power from a 2,700mAh battery.

The front camera is 13 MP and has an ISO setting of up to 6400 which should help in taking selfies even when the lighting isn't very good.

The Xperia X Compact goes on sale globally this month, with sales of the Xperia XZ opening up globally in October. It's powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 650, 64-bit processor, 3GB RAM and 32 GB eMMC, and it offers a microSD card slot. The Xperia XZ will burn a 600 pounds hole in your pocket, which roughly translates to Rs 53,000. And while the company itself stayed mum about any exact release dates and price levels for the duo, thankfully we have other sources for that sort of information.

The difference in the design is that the XZ showcases what we think is a metal back, while the X Compact's back appears to be covered in of glass. But it has the same 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It will also be available in Sony's color of the season-blue-but in a more icy hue than the forest blue of the XZ. While so many devices may be confusing to consumers, Xperia X Compact is one phone that follows its predecessors such as the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. The Xperia XZ also comes with a USB Type-C port, and the battery is marked for 2,900 mAh capacity with Quick Charge 3.0 capabilities.

What are your thoughts on the Sony Xperia XZ and the Sony Xperia X Compact?

But unlike previous Compacts, Sony didn't give it flagship specs; it's stuck with a midrange Snapdragon 652 processor.
