Olympics: Rio 2016: There you go, I am the greatest, says Bolt

Olympics: Rio 2016: There you go, I am the greatest, says Bolt

The U.S. women have retained the 4x100-meter relay title and helped Allyson Felix win her record fifth Olympic gold medal. Just after the race in which he led the Jamaican team comprising, Asafa Powell, Bolt's training partner Yohan Blake and Nickel Ashmeade, Bolt, who will be 30 years on Sunday, penned an appreciation to his fans worldwide.

With nine Olympic gold medals to his name thanks to his stunning exploits at Rio 2016, Usain Bolt is looking forward to a vacation. It was still the fourth fastest time in history.

This marked the ninth time since 1995 the USA men have been disqualified or failed to get the baton around at Olympics or world championships.

The handover between lead-off runner Mike Rodgers and Justin Gatlin was adjudged to have started before the exchange zone and the Americans were disqualified as they were on their lap of honour.

The focus, though, was on one man.

The 29-year-old ran an electrifying final leg to anchor Jamaica's second straight Olympic men's 4x100m relay victory.

He is now equal with United States of America sprinter and long jumper Carl Lewis, who won nine golds over four Games, and Finnish long-distance runner Paavo Nurmi. The only Olympian to win more is US swimmer Michael Phelps, who upped his record to 23 with five golds in Rio.

WhatsApp to share users' phone numbers, device information with Facebook
Facebook couldn't look even if it wanted to since WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted with the encryption golden standard. You're likely to see more people you recognise or have some form of communication with in the "People You May Know" section.

Nobody, though, has been as dominant of their discipline for as long as Bolt. Only three other men have ever completed the sprint treble of 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

In February, Usain confirmed to the media that he plans to retire after the 2017 World Championships, and this fact means that Rio will mark the end of one of the greatest Olympic careers that the world has seen so far.

As in three Olympics, three races at each, three gold medals each time. The Jamaicans won the 2012 Olympic gold medal in 36.84 seconds, a world-record time.

Although some ways off Olympic gold-medal javelin competitor Thomas Rohler, who threw 90.30m in the men's final, Bolt's toss would have placed him sixth at Jamaica's national championships. That makes them the first country to win back-to-back-to-back Olympic titles in the event since the USA won in 1968, '72 and '76.

And while Bolt's brilliance should be praised, so too should the rest of Jamaican sprinting team.

Friday's triumph was potentially the most awkward, with Bolt's gold medal hopes reliant on the performances of his team-mates.
