Need to win two more golds for immortality, says Usain Bolt

Need to win two more golds for immortality, says Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt began his journey to his third straight 200m gold medal with a relatively easy run on Tuesday.

It was his slowest time in his three Olympic 100m finals, but it was fast enough to beat Justin Gatlin by.08 seconds.

Ethiopian world record holder Genzebe Dibaba qualified for the women's 1,500 metres final with the fastest time, comfortably winning her heat in four minutes 3.06 seconds to justify her tag as favourite for Olympic gold.

Bolt said achieving his "triple triple" - three consecutive Olympic golds in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m - will make him immortal.

Earlier, Bolt had cruised through the morning heats and then ran the fastest time in the semi-finals.

'I didn't because I was exhausted going into the finals and I was just like 'let me focus on what I need to focus on, " he said. "When it comes to it, I guess I've given him his closest races in all his career, so to be able to say that at the age I'm at right now, it's a true honour, guys".

The sprinter has described the timing of the semi-final and final as "ridiculous" as it left him feeling below peak fitness for the most popular event at the Olympics.

Gatlin's response - "I never even heard of Lilly King".

And while he has not directly talked to Bolt, yet, Spencer says he has it on good authority that the runner is impressed with the shot.

Gatlin, 34, hit back at his critics and said: "When people come out here they get enthralled in the excitement, I understand that and there's a lot of Usain Bolt fans and a lot of Jamaican fans. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's semi-finals". "But I know - and Andre knows - his race was quite poor".

"I said, 'Who is that?' Typically you don't see walk-ons that compete that well", said Sharpe, himself a former 100- and 200-metre Canadian champion and Olympic teammate of Ben Johnson.

De Grasse took bronze in a personal best of 9.91, ahead of Bolt's Jamaican team-mate Yohan Blake. "I was like 'Yo, I probably could run a fast time, '" he said.

The final race takes place Thursday, Aug. 18, at 9:30 p.m.

Bolt clocked 9.91 seconds to add to his titles in Beijing eight years ago and London 2012, and keep alive his unbeaten streak at major championships. "I didn't want to go out. t's a good start and I'm happy".

"He's going to be good", said Bolt following the race.

Guardiola returns to Barcelona with City in Champions League

British rider Dujardin seals deal on gold and fiancé
There is no other rider out there that I look at that wants it more than Isabell and I think that's where I get my fight. Her win makes her the first British woman to retain an individual Olympic title after she struck gold in London in 2012.
