GCSE results: Malmesbury School smash results record

STUDENTS at Hayes School were able to buck the national trend by delivering even better GCSE results than a year ago.

The percentage of students attaining A*-C in English is now 73.5% for 2016 and compares to 67.6% previous year, an increase of 5.9%.

Achieving eleven A* and A grades were Ellie Mogg and Sarah Taylor while Emma Bygrave and Niamh Allanson and Carrie Clarke each secured ten A* and As.

Other students who, following their Key Stage 2 results were expected to get GCSE grades below C, had beaming smiles as they opened their envelopes to reveal a string of C and B grades.

Jamie Jardine, the principal of the Clifton Road school, added that more than half of students also achieved either an A* or A grade as part of their results.

The figures show that close to 60 per cent of pupils achieved A* to C passes in five or more GCSEs, including English and maths.
