Sturridge frustrated with wide role

Jurgen Klopp says there is no problem between himself and Daniel Sturridge after the Liverpool striker voiced his frustration about being played out wide.

The England worldwide made the remarks after he had scored twice during Liverpool's 5-0 EFL Cup win over Burton Albion on Tuesday night.

"Of course it's more hard for me to play wide", said Sturridge.

Klopp, who more often than not receives praise for his tactics and man management skills, chose to play Sturridge out wide rather than in his preferred position at centre-forward.

"In the modern-day game you have to try and be flexible, but everyone knows my best position", Sturridge said. "It shouldn't be too long, for sure, but maybe too long for the Tottenham game, I don't know at this moment". I'm on autopilot there. You just do things because you are used to doing them.

The game will be played at Pride Park on the 20th or 21st of September.

Tom Naylor circumstantially put the ball in his own particular net after the break before Daniel Sturridge tapped in his first and after that beat home the Reds' fifth.

Liverpool's next assignment is a tricky away trip to Tottenham Hotspur for the lunch time kick-off on Saturday, but it remains to be seen whether Can will be back in time to be selected for the match.

Klopp was pleased with a "serious" performance from his side, but admitted he had a plan to give certain players more minutes that was disrupted by Can's knock.

"In a wing position, when he's not involved anymore in defending, you need a smart striker who moves the centre-half where they're not comfortable".

Burnley's second goal, in particular, saw Liverpool players outmuscled and overwhelmed in a succession of duels, culminating in Clarets forward Andre Gray netting. Like I said, we still have to work on a lot of things. "It's about asking a question, getting an answer and making a big deal of it or not thinking of it at all".

"It is not as if you play there and wait until something happens".

The Englishman endured a torrid afternoon deployed on the right side of a three-pronged attack against Burnley in the Premier League last weekend.
