Matt Roberts, Former 3 Doors Down Guitarist, Dies at 38

The guitarist was expected to perform at a charity event just outside of Wisconsin and was staying at a hotel nearby. Matt had rehearsal until about 1:00am, and afterward the father and son went back to their adjoining rooms at their hotel. Roberts said that his son had struggled with anxiety and and a "prescription drug addiction". "They asked me if Matt Roberts was your son, I said yes, and they said 'we have bad news to tell you, Matt deceased last night, '" Roberts said.

Matt Roberts has died at the age of 38.

Roberts' death was confirmed by his father Darryl on Saturday morning. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.

"I thought he had beaten it all", he said.

The guitarist was one of the three founding members of 3 Doors Down, alongside Brad Arnold and Todd Harrell.
