Mets officially re-sign Jose Reyes

"He is committed to ongoing counseling and support of organizations working against domestic abuse", Alderson said, who met with Reyes for an house, mostly about his domestic violence incident.

Alderson said on a conference call he believes Reyes deserves a second chance, though he acknowledged he expects some fans will not agree with the decision. Never known as a great defender, Reyes has only played 352 innings at second base in his career - all in 2004, his sophomore year in the majors. After being traded in 2011, he kept his home on Long Island in Manhasset, New York. She and their three daughters, Katerine, Joselyn and Ashley, regularly make appearances on Reyes' social media. Colorado had designated Reyes for assignment on June 15.

While past his prime, Reyes will be expected to bring speed and the ability to get on base to the Mets, two qualities the club could desperately use. "We are convinced that Jose has accepted responsibility for his actions and their consequences and have confirmed he is taking steps beyond those prescribed by Major League Baseball, including ongoing counseling".

During his time with the New York Mets, Jose Reyes made the All-Star team four times.

Pixar dives back in with 'Finding Dory'
With Marlin and Nemo relegated to supporting roles this time around, it's up to the new characters to shine, and boy, do they. The new characters blend beautifully with the ones from the first film and add some humor to the plot.

If no team claims him, their only remaining choice will be to release him and hope they can at least cut some losses on the remaining $40-plus million dollars in salary he's owed by another club picking him up as a free agent at prorated portion of the veteran minimum.

Reyes, 33, played primarily at shortstop for the Mets from 2003-11, but may be used in a utility role in his return to the organization. "I have completed the counseling required by Major League Baseball, have been in ongoing therapy, and will continue with counseling going forward", Reyes said in a statement.

It's far from clear, at least from the numbers, that Reyes would be an upgrade as a starter for the Mets, since he batted just.274/.310/.378 past year despite spending part of the season with Coors Field as his home park. Reyes had only a.310 on-base percentage last season with the Toronto Blue Jays and Rockies, but he did steal 24 bases in 116 games. "One of the things that probably caught my imagination was his joy of playing in NY". But the GM said he came away from his meeting with Reyes convinced that the former star took responsibility for his mistake.
